Public Transit

Public transportation in Scarborough is primarily provided by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), Metrolinx GO Trains and York region.

The TTC’s Kennedy Station sits at the eastern terminus of Line 2 Bloor–Danforth subway system, with two additional stations at Victoria Park and Warden. Riders on Line 2 can reach Yonge-Bloor interchange station in under 25 minutes. Beginning at Kennedy station, Line 3 Scarborough or the Scarborough RT, runs north and east connecting riders to Scarborough City Centre. Connecting the rapid transit stations is an extensive network of bus routes. Construction on an extension to Line 2 started in June 2021 and is expected to be complete around 2030, including three new stations. In addition Line 5 Eglinton LRT is a light rail line under construction with its eastern terminus at Kennedy station, further improving connections across Scarborough and the GTA.

Other public transportation services that operate in Scarborough includes GO Transit, and York Region Transit. GO Transit’s Lakeshore East line runs across the south end of the district, while the Stouffville line runs north-south in the west end of Scarborough. GO Transit also has a few bus terminals and stops in Scarborough.

Schools & Education

Access to a variety of well-regarded public schools and post-secondary educational institutions is a major draw for families settling in Scarborough. As of 2008, there are 28 secondary schools in Scarborough including Agincourt Collegiate Institute and R. H. King Academy. Scarborough also has a notable list of post-secondary institutions such as Centennial College, triOS College, Toronto College of Dental Hygiene & Auxiliaries and CDI College. York University and University of Toronto have also established campuses in Scarborough.
