Once in a decade or so, a development launches that is everything : visionary, bold and destined to become a landmark in the city. I’ve had the pleasure of working on the sales and marketing of a few such developments including: The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) residences. These two buildings were truly revolutionary and so significant at the time they were launched.
The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton was the first luxury hotel residences in the city. Ahead of its time, the project tested Toronto’s appetite for luxury real estate. If memory serves me right, suites sizes were over 1,000 SF and prices started over $700,000 and of course at the time that seemed like a ludicrous amount of money to invest in real estate, in a city like Toronto – that was not even close to realizing its potential.
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) tower has become the most significant building for Toronto Arts & Culture where many international films are debuted and then go on to win Oscars attracting the top celebrities from across the globe to walk the red carpet right at its doors. This building may be the most photographed of all new Toronto condos (is there a study on that?) with people lining up wrapping around the building to watch a movie premiere or catch a glimpse of the celebrity du jour every fall during the Film Festival.
I would put Tridel’s upcoming Residences at The Well development in this category of luxury, significance, importance and vision. There truly is NOTHING comparable in the city of Toronto and right in the heart of the downtown core. And there may never ever be due to the lack of land availability downtown.
People from down the street and across the globe live, eat, shop, work and play in one place, in the heart of Toronto.
The unique vision of the future focused urban developers is a master-planned community that brings together the best of what urban living has to offer. Bordering Front, Spadina, and Wellington, this astounding mixture of retail, commercial, condominiums and rentals in downtown Toronto will host approximately 10,000 people on a daily basis who live and work at The Well.
Uniting the extraordinary vision of an esteemed team of urban developers including RioCan, REIT and Allied Properties and touted as the most ambitious mixed-use endeavour in Canada, bringing 7.8-acres of retail, commercial, condominiums and luxury rentals to Toronto’s King West Area, Residences at The Well is Tridel’s most ambitious upcoming development – the largest fully private sector construction project in Canada right now!
Here are some facts that illustrate the immense magnitude of this development and as you read below, remember, this is located right in the heart of the city – in the downtown core. How often do we see this size of a development in the downtown core? Let that sink in…
✔️ 3M SF of master-planned community
✔️ 335 crew on site
✔️ 8 Cranes On Site
✔️ 20m diameter x 44m deep Thermal Storage
The Well team has a singular purpose, to transform this neighbourhood into a destination community likening to the next Yorkville in the city. The King West neighbourhood will be the new luxury in the city.
