Here is what it costs to rent an apartment near every subway station in Toronto – the findings are truly fascinating with some obvious winners and surprises.
As the cost of living in Toronto’s downtown core keeps rising, more and more people are looking to move outside the city core and across the GTA within close proximity to transit specifically subway stations.
Property prices and rents are typically higher for those located right by the TTC subway stations. In fact, properties along the Crosstown Eglinton LRT that is currently under construction are expected to increase in value as this transit line completes in 2022 making Yonge and Eglinton station in midtown Toronto a major transit hub and just as important of a connector subway station (if not more) as Yonge and Bloor.
MovingWaldo, Canada’s number online moving platform, has made it easier for apartment and condo hunters, to look up the average rent on one and two bedrooms apartments across all TTC subway stations. This search on their platform helps simply the research process for renters.
The average price for rental and condo apartments reached $1,987 in March, down 19% compared to $2,454 the year prior.
According to MovingWaldo data, located near High Park North neighbourhood, Dundas West is the most affordable station to live nearby with a price of $1356 on average for a 1 bedroom apartment. Considering that you have a great park, High Park, within a few minutes by walk, this definitely a place to have in mind if you enjoy nature.
It’s no surprise that a well situated neighborhood like Yorkville has the most expensive subway station to live nearby. If you like living in the city, Bay station has everything you would want nearby restaurants, bars & pubs, stores and much more. Of course that comes at an expensive price, on average a 1 bedroom apartment will cost you $2356.
