5 Tips on Preparing for Your Colour Selection Day

1.  Create a Pinterest board or magazine photos of looks that best describe your home decor style. This will give us a great idea of the look and feel you are trying to achieve in your new home.  While we may not have all the same materials at Daniels Decor Centre, there are ways in which we can create the same canvas of finishes allowing you to complete the look with your furniture, accessories, art, rugs etc.

2. Create a wish list of upgrades you would like and place them in 2 categories: Must have’s and Nice To have.  The ‘Must Have’s are the items you need to make the space suit to how you live.  This will help to focus the appointment and give your design consultant a guideline of what you are truly interested in.

3. Set a budget  don’t be shy to share your design budget with your Design Consultant. Your consultant will be able to narrow down and present only the best options that would both fit within your budget and your decor style. Design Consultants help you focus on the upgrade finishes or options that may make sense to get through the builder at this time and what you could likely get done on your own afterwards – most of our clients find this very helpful.

4. Describe how you live share insights on how you live, what your daily life looks like. Do you work from home – is setting up a home office at the top of your list. You love to entertain at home and spend most of your time in the kitchen – we can focus on upgrade dollars in the kitchen. You love media – your TV and gaming space is most important  to you – we can set up that space for you to enjoy your time spent here. Knowing more about your day-to-day lifestyle  helps your design consultant focus on selections that best work with your lifestyle.

5. Be prepared to complete your appointment and provide the deposit for any upgrades you have purchased  Your appointment is booked in a specific time frame to allow for your file to be processed and colours or upgrades ordered and issued to the trades teams to arrange for their orders – its a big process especially considering there are over 300 condos in most buildings!  It may seem really early in relation to your occupancy date – this may be another year or so away –  however from the builder’s perspective its a short span of time to get all that done for all the whole building.
